Blondes vs Brunettes

Who's the winner?

My very good friend Wayne is back from Australia where he studies…uhm…something.. heh, yeah I forgot what he studies, but lets not get lost in details. He’s a very handsome kid (18 years old btw), funny, smart and sings real good too, he even went upstage for charity when Vanuatu was raising money for the tsunami disaster relief cause.

I’m taking him as an example but it could be any kid really, or any immature guy (which ranges from ages 0 to 75 in some desperate cases…). He started dating this really gorgeous aussie chick his age who turned out to be a nice person too. She was blonde. And when he started talking about her he said ‘I broke up with her after a month cuz she was just too dumb!’

I don’t think he was being shallow, if he really was he’d still be with her, or would have dumped her because he found some other girl. He was looking for a personality, but he just found some doll. And after trying to look for a spark of intelligence decided he should just move on.

I don’t mean to say that all blondes are stupid, but wherever there’s a cliché there must be some truth in it…

Anyway, my real question is, why in the world do guys give bonuses to blondes in terms of looks? Okay, I’m putting all guys in the same bag, it’s wrong and I know it. But admit it, put a blonde and a brunette side by side at a bar, and who catches your eye first?

Vote NOW! lol!

Alison: first vote for brunettes
(Been many colors? what gets attention the most?? hehe )
Having been blessed with a thick, flaming red mane, I get noticed before any common blonde.

And I'm smart, too!

Little whip's got it all!

A lot of times, opposites attract. I have dark hair so I prefer light hair.

Aha! One vote for blonde!
Mmm, i thought opposites attract was more about personalities, but oh well...

I read somewhere that blonde hair is eye-catching to the male as an evolutionary/sexual cue. Why blonde specifically, I don't know.

As a general rule, I get along better with non-blondes (this is going to sound jerky, but they tend to be more down-to-earth and less shallow than blondes), and I prefer dark-headed men.

I'll also go along with little whip...vibrant red hair (on women, not a fan of red-headed men) is striking.

Yeah? That's weird... Maybe the blondes could be spoted from afar because their hair shined in sunlight or something?lol

Yeah, i have noticed too. although there are some blonde girls i know (well at least one!) that can be really cool and fun to hang out with

Yep, yep! I think the red headed girls have a tendancy to dislike the color of their hair and hate the freckles on their skin. They're nuts tho, i know guys who think it's actually cute!

Anyway, one more vote for brunettes
(Where are my JU guys??)

Hey! I am a blonde! Although naturally so. I think all the fake blondes give us "real blondes" a bad name.
I think that people associate blondes as carefree, younger minded and less serious. I have actually dyed my hair darker to appear older and more serious for a job interview.
I think being blonde (espc. light blonde like me) you sometimes have to work harder to be taken seriously.
I was pre-med in college though and I will say there was more dark haired girls in my classes.
Don't hate all blondes! We aren't all idiots.

From those two pictures, judging from a purely visual maner I'd say I like the brunette better. While she does look rather bored, which isn't good, the blonde looks too posing for the camera and not real enough. But in a more general sense, when not talking about strange drawn characters...
It's not the color of the hair that's important, it's the size of the... mind that matters most. Having said that, the most beautiful person I know has black hair.

True, very true, but with suposedly high profile blondes like Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson and the likes, blondes will definetely have a hard time being taken seriously. Not mentioning all the blonde jokes and bumper stickers... But in a way it makes you become the bestest you, whereas brunettes who probably take things for granted will never try to explore and exploit their full potential because they dont feel pressured to, you know what i mean?

No, not all of you I agree You're living proof
I assume you're voting blonde J.

Danny:
She looks bored?? I thought she looked dreamy!

The size of the mind and of the... heart, right?
Anyhoo, one more brunette vote.

Hehe i'm enjoying this

You actually ask many questions here.  First, let me answer the 'dumb blonde' one.  Not all blondes are dumb, but many good looking girls decide early in life they can get by on their looks, and so they quit trying to learn.  As many are blondes, that gives rise to the dumb blondes (but there are a lot of dumb brunnettes as well).

Now, as for why guys like blondes?  I am not sure.  I do think they catch our eye more often, but I personally prefer dark haired beauties as they seem more mysterious and sexual to me (ala Marlene Dietrcih).  Does that mean I dont look at blondes?  au contraire.  I do notice them a lot.  But it is the novelty factor as most blondes in these parts are bleached, and there are very few natural blondes (since blond is a recessive gene, eventually there will be none).

I look at Red Heads the same way (naturals - I cant stand died red as it always looks phony) as I do Blondes, altho because of their skin complexion, they aree often paler than blond and thus not as pretty (general rule!  Before I get flamed, JU company excepted).

So, I as a dark skinned, light brown hair, American male, do look at Blond'salthoughareblonds aBlondsnd red heads, but the brunette (dark haired brunette) are the ones that rev my libido!

I definitely look at brunettes first. Especially if they have green or blue eyes. But again even if they have brown eyes.

I also tend to look at redheads. Especially if they don't have freckles. But again even if they do have freckles.

I also look at blondes. Especially if they are tanned. But again even if they aren't tanned.

I just like smart women. Especially if they are funny and independent. But again...

So I look at brunettes, then redheads then blondes in that order. I was thinking that since I like smart women maybe subconsciously I look at blondes last cause of the stereotype that blondes are dumb. I hope not. Now saying that I do have to say that I have gone into 2 chatrooms in my life and both rooms haved thought I was a blonde. But again I think that says more about me than blondes.

I once heard the generalized personalities of women of each hair color.
Blonde is the party girl.
Brown is the homemaker.
Red is the bitch.
Black is sex and destruction.

I've had several discussions with guys where we all agreed that there are more blondes who are good-looking, but when a brunette is good-looking, OH MY FREAKING GOD SHE"S HOT!!!!! Like Reese Witherspoon is pretty, but she's a dime a dozen. Catherine Zeta-Jones however, takes my breath away.

Personally I've always had a thing for freckles, which means I also like redheads a lot (freckles on brunettes are just as cute though).

I really agree with Dr Guy that "many good looking girls decide early in life they can get by on their looks, and so they quit trying to learn." The dumbest girl I ever dated was like this. She was a brunette btw.
