For the hell of it

it's never easy
trying to justify sleep when there is so much
to get done,

I hate that.

I never lived in a mathematically sequenced life
it wasn't my world--”ever."
I have always skirted around the edges, if I was ever "in"
it was only just barely and loosing it didn't seem to
matter,
it weighed less in the end and it's hard to run with the
baggage of living sideways, in the shadows, watching
and ever tinkering with the manifold jigsaw of human
living,

but doing the clock is mundane and rigid
suited for order and rows and numbers and communes with faith
it screams words like pounding wooden stakes through vampire hearts,
"RESPONSIBILITY," "HONOR," "OBLIGATION," "MAN-NESS,"
all good things, but the words are bullets to steer us--"to work,
to play, to do all good things in an orderly way,"

it castrates me,

so sleeping isn't so bad a thing, it's a protest to the clock
and it's errant way, yeah, I got a lot of things to do, but tonight
it's time to make a stand and just sleep,

for the hell of it.

I like how you're using sleep to defy the clock. For me, it always seems that it's the opposite. It's as if sleep takes my life away, and the way to stop it is to stay awake as long as possible.

Excellent work.
