Declaring war

I noticed that I can attack and destroy a ship from another civilization without declaring war. I assume that that'll be changed at some point?

War should be automatically declared when a ship of one peaceful race destroys the ship of another peaceful race. You can double-check this by going to the "Foreign Policy" screen...the treaties screen will have a graph of who's waring with who.

If war still isn't being declared, and its a reproducable situation, send either me or Cari a copy of the saved game and we'll fix the problem.

Thanks! :)

I think what is being requested is that attacking a ship should get an "are you sure?" prompt if was is not declared or, optionally, that mis-clicks not start a war by mistake. I have done this twice myself, destroying a friendly freighter when I mistook it for some space junk because it was at the edge of FOW and the other just not aiming correctly at the enemy I intended.

An "are you sure?" prompt would be a BIG help here, IMO. I have made the same mistake.

Ah, yes...the "are you sure" dialog. Ironically, that's on tomorrows' "to-do" list...so you'll have it by next beta release.

'Are you sure' it's on todays to-do list ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist!

On a more serious note, could you also add it to the colonise option, the invasion option, and the freighter about to form a trade route.

Paul.

As for me, I'd like to be able to disable a "are you sure" dialog if you implement one for colonization.

Thanks,

I think that Fredrik also mentioned an instance where his ship had attacked another and it didn't set the relations to At War. I'll check it out.
