Fantasy Mod

I just thought of this idea and think that it could be really fun. Have the major races be Humans (player), Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes, and Orcs. Political parties like, "Tolkien Freaks" who get bonus to diplomacy, "The Society for Creative Anachronisms" who get bonuses to research, "The Disbelievers", who can't accept that aliens are elves, "Wiccans" who get bonus to sensor range and influence.... you get the idea. Research could be mixed between real techs and magic, and the union between the two. Any one else think this is a good idea?

It would be something else if the game map could be edited (through heavy modding) to change the "space background" to a more land-based theme..say, forests and plains. Although it would probably be too time-intensive.

I think SD is already coming out with a fantasy based Galciv game called Elemental so no need to extensively mod IMO.

Cirrhosis,

Are you into fantasy too? Do consider joining the Fellowship if you would like to empire.

Ray-

Really? I would be most grateful to join the Fellowship. I have been wanting to join an Empire but have been conflicted with choices.

As for Elemental: It sounds great, I can't wait to see what Stardock will do to enhance the GalCiv engine for a fantasy setting. Since it would be purely land-based, I'm assuming that strategy would play an even greater role than is already present in GalCiv.

Nice to know I'm not the only person who has been tossing this idea about. Kudos, SD.
