Why is my computer going so slow?

I just got DesktopX and I downloaded a skin that had great reviews. I keep seeing people say that it doesn't take a lot of memory, but my computer is going so slow that its not even worth using DesktopX. What should I do? Also, is there anything I should do before I install to prepare my computer for DesktopX?

If your computer is already going slow prior to installation you might want to cut back on some items auto starting.
do you have an antivirus scanner? sypware scanner? if not, you might want to check into some. AVG has a pretty good AV scanner (free). SpyBot Search & Destroy & AdAware (Lavasoft) & MS AntiSpy (all free) work well.
