Acclaim has risen from the dead, the recently bankrupt and liquidated game maker has had its trustee strike a deal to sell its name to Central Investment Holdings Llc. New York Newsday also reports that along with the sale of the name has come a tentative agreement for the sale of two of Acclaim's unsold franchises, the Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX series and the ATV Quad Power Racing series. Crave Entertainment has managed to lay the groundwork for the acquisition with a bid totaling $120,000. Both deals will remain if no higher bid is made within the next few weeks. It is unknown what Central Investment Holdings Llc. will do with the Acclaim name should it succeed with its purchase attempt.
GMAC Commercial Finance, Acclaim's former primary creditor, has managed to sell off large parts of Acclaim, including Acclaim's old downtown Glen Cove headquarters for $8.75 million, the rights to the company's comic book characters for $720,000 and the rights to four unfinished games for $250,000. The largest sale came from the rights to the game Juiced, which THQ's bid of $10.5 million won over Take-Two Interactive's. THQ released Juiced last month to mediocre reviews.
