Tell me about Drengin Net - should I get it if I only want GalCiv?

Ok, looks like I waited too long, the price seems to have gone up quite a bit - wasn't it originally $50 or $60? When the price was about $10 more than the game, I was willing to pay that for some new stuff added to GalCiv later on, but now? $25 more seems a bit much (for me personally, YMMV) seeing as the only game I am interested in is GalCiv. So exactly what will Drengin bring me down the road with respect to GalCiv? (FYI, I'm not criticing anyone or the price changes, everyone has to make money, etc. - just for me the increase seems a bit much for just some future upgrades to GalCiv).

Drengin.net is, as of right now, a collection of five games, all but two of which are, as of yet, at least partially incomplete.

There is a sixth game that was on the old system, but is not up on this one, that was basically a simple Christmas-themed game. I don't know if it'll show up again this Christmas, or if you'll have to talk to someone at Stardock to get a copy of it.

In any case, there is one game concept that was mentioned elsewhere that's very early in production (I would hesitate to call it even pre-alpha, from what little has been said about it) which has presumably been put on hold at least until GalCiv is more or less complete.

Beyond that, I can't say much for what the future outlook of Drengin.net is, but assuming that OD.net is a viable precident, you'll get whatever shows up within a 1 year period of when Drengin.net is deemed to be at release status, which at the moment seems to be the later of GalCiv's 'final' release, or that of the DGM.

With reference to GC only, I'd say that DN is GC + updates for 1 year & renewal option.
It's a way to pay for GC team to plan & release updates to it. The other way is to pay GC & then pay upgrades/stories/expansion packages as needed.

Generally speaking it's a new way to sell games. It's an open team with developers and players. Take it and for 1 year you'll get all is done. Renewal was something in the range of 20$/year.

BTW, I also started (payed ;) )for GC but now I also like BUGS for 5 minutes of relax and Stellar Frontier for strategy/action space gaming. My problem is to find free time.... :(

Stellar Frontier, LightWeight Ninja, and The Corporate Machine are released games. Their combined retail price is $70. GalCiv's retail price is $45. So it's effective over $100 in games for roughly half the price.
