How and where do I save objects I get from Wincustomize?

I find an object I like and I click to download it and it of couse is a zip file. Well I extract the contents to my "object" folder under my "desktopx" folder yet I am unable to see the object when I run dektopx and I click "load objects". The contents of the zip folder do not contain any "packages" or any icons like those icons that represent the other "objects". It only gives me a folder with a registry type looking name and some bmps. Where can I find out how the hell I can load these things? I am new at this!

Derron,

Change the way you download.

Right-click download link > select "Save Target as..." > when the Save As dialog box pops up, use the "Save as Type:" drop-down list to select "All Files" (instead of Compressed File) > save to say My Documents.

This method should keep the original file extension intact. For a DX object, the extension should be ".dxpack".

This way, if you see a ".zip" after downloading, it really is a ".zip" file and should be opened to find the correct files inside.

You can either double-click the file to install, or place it in the Objects folder as you have been doing (your file just had the wrong extension attached, so the program does not see it correctly).

I hope this helps.

I assume you are using IE6. Try changing the .zip to .dxpack when you download. Then double click the object and it should be automatically installed into the program. I hope this helps.
