Understanding Names, Nicknames, Player names, Registered Names & Alias for Newbies

I'm pretty much a Newbie myself and the most confusing thing for me was all the different types of names everyone has and what they mean. The post on how to submit scores helps but I don't think it is as clear as it can be; so I decided to post this to help newbies. Maybe there is a post somewhere else on this topic but I couldn't find it. Since I'm a Beginner myself I may have this wrong in which case I hope a Veteran Player will correct me.

If you click on my name at the top of this post it will take you to my summary page which will display my Name: "Bob Harris"; my nickname:also "Bob Harris" (OK so I lose points for creativity); and my Player Name either "Bob" or "Harrybanana" depending upon how I am registered. My Metaverse Score and Rank and other info is also displayed but ignore that for now. Here is what they all mean:

"Name"- Pretty obvious, this is your actual name,or at least what you gave as your name when you 1st registered. This has no bearing on anything at all. In other words you can't search for someone by there "Name", Metaverse Scores are not stored by your "Name" etc.

"Nickname"-Your Nickname can be the same as your Name (like it is with me), the same as your Player Name (as it is for a lot of people) or totally different from either. It is whatever name you chose as your Nickname when you registered the 1st time. If there is a way of changing your nickname I don't know it. Everyone in the Metaverse World is identified by there Nickname. The reason my name "Bob Harris" appears at the top of this post is because this is my Nickname not because it is my Name. All Metaverse scores are searched via a persons nickname. With me so far? Good cause now it gets confusing

"Playername"- Everyone has a single "Name" and a single "Nickname" but you can have more than one "Playername". I have 2: "Bob" and "Harrybanana" (don't ask) but only one can be active at any time. My active "Playername" is whichever one I last registered under (ie my "Registered Name"). When I search uder my Nickname on Metaverse or click on my name to get my player details it will display my Metaverse score for my current active Playername. If I want to see my scores etc. for my other Playername then I will have to make that other Playername active by Registering that name. The easiest way I have found to do this is to view the details for "Bob Harris" (My Nickname remember) and then click on whichever one of my Playernames is currently active (lets say it is "Bob"). This will take me to the Registration Screen where I can now reregister with my other Playername "Harrybanana". Note that when I do this my Metaverse Score for Bob Harris (again my Nickname) will change to reflect the Metaverse Score I have under the Playername "Harrybanana".

"Alias"- When you complete a game and are taken to the submission screen it asks you to input your "Alias". Don't be confused "Alias" = "Playername". I believe (and someone correct me on this please if I am wrong) that you can use any Playername even if it is not your current active Playername. Of course in order for you to see how your score in this game has affected your Metaverse Score for that Playername you will have to register under that name.

OK, have I got this right? Any questions?

Interesting . . . I think that sounds pretty right . . . In theory (I wonder hypotheticaly, offcourse) if you knew some-ones e-mail address and thier nick name (which is common knowledge) you could submit a game for them! Oh thats scary . . . but who would do such a thing? Forget I mentioned it . . .

I can see it now Staffa's lates submission 130 points for a loss on Calkwalk . . . LOL, but seriously . . .

One thing I am still having trouble with though is signing into this forum. I type my name and password but it's always incorrect? Fortunately the default option after that which required an e-mail address as verification seems to work OK . . . :notsure:

Don't think it is so easy, Cotal.

Each of our save game contain our serial number so you can't submit for Staffa unless u have his serial. At least, that's what I think.

So theoretically if I give Staffa or yourself my serial number you could submit a game for me? Like a good game with a great score of say 10 000 or more!

> Ok how much are we talking about! <

LOL just kidding, joking around, you know hehe haha etc . . . mind you its a though, if you're ever strapped for cash I mean . . . no no I didn't mean to say that! It could be a lucrative deal I have a credit card and B-Pay?

Sorry I'm pathetic and desperate 'Naughty Bad Cotal!'
'Naughty Bad Wicked Cotal' thinking such a thing!

? Naughty Bad Wicked and probably banned form these Forums Cotal for entertaining such fantasies of corruption and bribery! :SURPRISED:

Last time I looked (I rarely sign out on this computer) signing on to the website is by e-mail and password, not nickname and password.
