OFLC Bans GTA:SA

As reported earlier the Australian Government has also jumped on the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas bashing along with numerous other people who have probably become gaming household names. The Office of Film and Literature Classification has the ability to ban sales of games outright, unlike the United States Government, and has done just that.

The OFLC has added GTA:SA to its laundry list of banned games, including its brethren Grand Theft Auto III, BMX XXX, and Manhunt. The ban comes after the ESRB's investigation into allegations that a sexually explicit mini-game resides in the game original code, these claims were eventually proved to be true and the game has since been recalled, with its current form being labeled as "Adults Only." A new version of the game without the "Hot Coffee" material is expected within weeks.

"Businesses that sell or hire computer games should remove existing stocks of this game from their shelves immediately," said Des Clark, director of the OFLC. "Parents are strongly advised to exercise caution in allowing children continued access to the game, particularly if they might have access to the 'Hot Coffee' modification."
