Lloyd's gone nuts again
chasing the crack pipe and hoping
the fifty pounds he's lost doesn't
give him away,
his once full chocolate cheeks are sunken
clinging close to his toothless jaws,
they are heavy and drag down the bags
under his eyes like deflated water ballons,
his walk is not straight and jovial anymore, no longer
a hitch in his step for coolness--instead he
moves determined, possessed on a never ending
quest for the rock,
he answers the door from behind a chain lock
and looks paranoid and sweaty, whispering or
screaming,
he's talking crazy, trying to get his friends
to invest in his insanity, a few bucks here and a few
bucks there--selling his good name piece by piece,
soon he'll be stealing and conning and scheming
and no one will give him grace or shelter or care
only cynical fear for what he has become and the
brush off whenever he's around,
it's like watching a monsoon, the river grows and
swells--then everything is gone.
