Ubisoft has announced a new product in the long running Might & Magic franchise. Dark Messiah of Might & Magic will be the second game released by Ubisoft since acquiring the Might & Magic license from the bankrupt 3DO in 2003. Dark Messiah is also the second game in the series to try for a first person perspective, something that 3DO failed at when they attempted it with Legends of Might and Magic in 2001.
Ubisoft has already geared up for the task, explaining that they have picked up an enhanced version of Valve's award winning Source Engine technology to power the game. Arkane Studios has received the tough task of making Might & Magic work in a first person setting but with games like Arx Fatalis behind them it looks promising. Dark Messiah is scheduled to attack the PC in the third quarter of 2006, with a look at the game rolling in on August 17th during the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany.
