DGM and downloading problems

I know that there are a couple other threads that are voicing concern with the DGM at the moment, but I feel that as it IS the central piece of the network, that any problem with it needs to be highlighted as much as possible.

I've been trying to get the new multimedia now since it's release, and have as of this writing not gotten it down (about 3 days I think), and I just wanted to put down what I have, and others, have been finding.

Originally the DGM stated that there was an upgrade for the multimedia of about 30 or 50 megs (can't remember which). Due to my dial up kicking me off, the download was killed. When I reloaded DGM, it stated that I no longer had the multimedia installed, and that I had to download 82 megs worth. It seems to have forgotten that I had downloaded the previous release.

Linked to this, DGM is having massive trouble remembering what it has downloaded, regardless of what occurs during the download. I noticed this problem first came up when I last re-installed GalCiv. It would just appear to start from scratch each time. What I did find, was that some files it was recognising as having been downloaded, but others (mostly the mp3s at the time) it just started again as if I had never gotten them. This is still occuring, and was occuring for both the last beta release and the release of the first multimeda pack.

Now, this makes it frustrating when, you have a restricted session time (mine being 4 hours) and you get at best a 29.8 kbps connection to the stardock servers (I do have 56k modem, just seems a slow link to stardock at times).

Now I love what you guys at Stardock are doing, both with ODN and Drengin, but in all reality, this problem with the DGM has to be address for it to be viable for any user that has a dial up or session time limited account.

I, and no doubt others in this situation would love to be involved in any way to help smash this problem, cause I know that personally I am dreading any need to uninstall the game/multimeda pack and re-install it at any point in the future.

If there is some way that we can assist, let us know. Are there any parameters to try? files to check or post? a test build to download?

I appologise again for starting a new thread for something that already has two or three going, but it is something that does need more comment on.

Thanks,
Brad

P.S. As I finish writing this I encountered another "file could not be downloaded" and I have restarted the process again from scratch
