Does this event always happen at higher levels?

Well, I've never played at these levels, but I did have both events you describe (more & more powerful and fundamentalists taking over my empire) in all other levels (easier ones, I mean).

I've played several games since I've bought it and I've never had either of those events, but I've heard people talking about it all the time.

From what I've gathered, the "more and more powerful" event actually means that empire is very weak and needs help. The Fundamentalist event is stopped if you are of good alignment, I think.

Your immune to the fundamentalist event if your good
your very resistent to it if you have high morale.

The more powerful event is rare even at the highest levels.

If you gotten it twice in 2 games, thats just coincidence.

Interesting, my overall morale was +90% and my alignment was around 30, but them dang Fundamentalist still got me



Guess I'm just unlucky with events then!

The more and more powerful event happens in almost everygame I play.
And it can be a real problem: In my last game, hopefully late in the game, the Drengin had this. But they were nowhere close to being weak. I was 1st (after reducing the arceans fleet to pieces, ex n°1) and the Drengin second, far behind me, but far ahead of eveyone else.
But it was ok, because the game ended soon after that.

What I meant was the empire that gets it is far weaker than you, so it needs help to compete with you. I've never seen the event help out much. Has anyone ever seen any real changes from it? :notsure:

I believe that if you take lucky then those things don't happen to you..

when I use lucky i never had prison breakouts or monsters escape from the zoo either

I think in another game it did help the Yor: I was at war for a long time with many other races (simultanously or one after the other, trapped in there by the multiple alliance thing), so the Yor stayed in their corner alone, getting stronger. When my wars were over, The only two powers left were them and I, and the only way I managed to win was buy blowing up their main systems with my "last chance" terror star. It did work, and since they were machines, I don't think it was mass-murder .

But it was a "special case"

I've seen the 'continually wax stronger' event bite me in the arse once. The Arceans got it and I was allied with them so I figured I was safe. Well, they got to be the biggest kids on the block, betrayed me, and proceeded to wipe me out

-i know this event happens also in the lower difficulties, i believe i got this event when i first played a game in cakewalk. i had this event several times infact, and all the times it was for some minor AI. i never saw the point in trying to take them out, the civ would never give me problems after the event. its not as if it makes them more agressive or anything.

i never had the fundamentalists yet, right now im working on painfull, and hopefully i will see them. i want to see what they are about.

Even with the lucky pick, I still get the Fundamentalist and race growing stronger events almost every game, especially in the huge/gigantic maps. The Fundamentalists may take 1-2 planets of mine initially if I'm evil but never any more unless you have low moral.

My current game is a crippling Gigantic (uggg.. no more gigantic for me ) and the weaker Arceans got the growing stronger event. They're the only ones left to kill and they're still weaker than me. Neither of these events have hurt me that much yet.

The morale check is planet by planet. The Lower the morale, the more likely the fundies are to take it over if you are evil. But I have seen high morale planets (especiall sol) go over to there side so sol must get a revolution boost and it must be some randomness Good civs are immune. But it can still happen to the evil empirires in your galaxy and make for trouble.

At least that's the way it appears in my games. No one has officially said how it works.

It does help if the race is one you're not activly hostile with. It just takes a while for it to build up steam.

For the first few years, you could probably outpace the race's improvement simply from research and anomoly exploration. They do get bonuses to very hard to improve abilities from it once in a while, though, so they will hit something that gives them an advantage, given time.

In my last game I got the "There is something evil happening" 3 times... then Draginol takes over my planet a bit later.. Still its not all bad.. Just get your combat transports to get the population out as soon as you get the message so he only takes over a small pop, and when it happens invade with a comb transport that will lose (about half the pop size). Then ask for a peace treaty and pick up about 140,000 bc each time... then ivade with the other combat transports and you've saved the galaxy.. Just thought i'd pass that on.

That's the other one Redeemed. The one he's talking about is The drengin have done something evil!!! (there's a different caption for a good civ) They've found a crystal and sacrificed their life force blah blah blah and the result is one atribute gains one % each turn randomly chosen.

And also the fundamentalist revolution.

Hi Pontius, I was only adding a helpful hint should he get the draginol event... I remember the first time I got it, i didn't react very quickly and it was not pretty...

I had this yesterday on maso, and the Yor were NOT very weak. They were the second most powerful civ (after Drengins). They'd have been third if the Altarians (pure evil) and Drengins (sainlty) hadn't spent so much energy shooting at each other while I watched from the other side of the galaxy. I was the weakest civ military-wise, and that event, of course, didn't happen to help me.
Still, this is uncommon.

I get it semi-regularly. Haven't really kept track though. But, as you said - it always happens to a weak race, so I actually like it as it balances things up more.
Does it ever happen to a powerful or mid-level race? Or is it set to only happen to the weaker ones?

It does indeed happen to powerful races. It's far more challenging when one of the biggest AI races gets this effect. It requires instant work to undermine and defeat this empire before it becomes too powerful.

More importantly, can it ever happen to you? Is there a chance in Hades that the humans can get that event and have the opportunity to become the overlords of the galaxy like everyone else? That'd be something to strive for.

In the games I played it happened almost everytime, BUT I never had it happening to me (nor have I read about it). So I guess no is the answer.

Same here just now, this event is not working right. The Arceans just got this even and they are the 2nd most powerful civilization in the painful/gigantic galaxy. They have been flipping the Tor's planets each turn. They are in NO WAY a waning power!

It may be based on the fact that the civilization isn't the most powerful. It could also mean that other races are growing much faster than the Yor.

While there is a chance it is happening to the incorrect civilization, it instead may be a simple description error.

BTW, I once had this event occurr with a minor race. For some reason, the description was completely different from what it is usually.
