Sunday Windowed build!!!
from
Stardock Forums
Based on some of the smart exception reports I've made a build that should take care of a couple of the crashes reported.
Note that saved games from the previous build probably won't work (they might, they might not).
THIS IS A WINDOWED BUILD. This means in order to run it you have to switch your desktop screen color depth to 16bit (65,000 colors). Otherwise the game will just immediately abort.
Here's the file:
http://www.stardock.com/temp/galciv.zip
Unzip this into your main GalCiv directory.
When making reports, make sure you let us know if you're using this build.
A few gameplay tweaks were also made such as planets that are really happy are much more difficult to get to defect (or leave you). Also, alien civ populations start at the same as yours.
Incidentally, if you want a REAL challenge, play as an evil player in a galaxy full of good guys. They got an intergalactic coalition to force a regime change on me.
