Microsoft has announced a Collector's Edition for its newest Age of Empires game, Age of Empires III. The Age of Empires III Collector's Edition will be hitting the shelves the same day as the standard version, October 18th 2005, but will come with special packaging, a 210 page "The Art of Empires" book, making of DVD, the game's soundtrack and a poster from Craig Mullins. The Collector's Edition will set collectors back an extra $20, ringing in at $69.99.
Age of Empires III is set in the colonial period, with all the countries vying to get a piece of the New World. Empires III will also update its gameplay with the ability to ally with the Native Americans, a new home-city system and use an advanced 3D engine to show off the sparkle of your city, or its ruins.
