Getting Creamed....

Now this may just be because I suck, but I can't seem to get anywhere in this game... I'll get lucky and find a few good planets near me, and before I can even get a 2nd Colony ship out I see alien colonies getting dangerously close... I get boxed in by 2 Aliens before I even meet the other 3... any tips would be appreciated... I have been destroyed by the Yor oh too many times...

I get creamed even on all easy settings level.

That is why we need cheat codes like "ALT, SHOWMETHEMONEY".

I agree that this version is a bit harder, but Ive beaten it with the default settings - but then, Ive only played on the smallest map. THis is things that are getting tuned - so it will be better later on. I'm sure Brad am aware of the situation.

With each feature added there are more things to pay attention to in building your strategy. Sometimes a game will set up with a situation that is very poor to start with. Somethimes it will give you a very favorable starting situation.

Another thing: I think (my own personal opinion) that the smaller galaxy sizes don't give you enough play to really learn how to play it. I see them as galaxies that can be used by seasoned players to have a quick and satisfying game. The medium sized galaxies can help in learning the game and developing strategies, and the large galaxy sizes seem to be ideal for fine tuning strategies.

However, bug discovery and reporting are very important in the Beta phase of developing any application, so try to play all of the galaxy sizes you can work in and worry less about how often you win (yes, it would be nice to win some of them, so please ask for help if you seem to be stuck for a winning game).

Cheers,
Jack

P.S. to Stardock folks. It may be that the rigors of the game at the lowest skill settings should be proportionally much easier than it is now.

Well, I must admit that I dont play that much at all. I play like 12-16 hours total the first two days when a new build is dropped, but after that not much.

But by then I've spammed the forum quite well :)

I sure like bigger maps, but the most of the bugs can be catched on smaller maps too. The big is more for fine-tuning IMO and we're not there yet. Sometimes let's the smaller maps go all the way in the tech-tree.

But it's great we play on different maps, more tested for SD.
