Social Projects and Smart Aliens

As my skills have advanced I have started to notice some bizarre stuff. The following is one example that leads to a question. Before I get into it, however, I should mention that I’m still playing 1.05. After chatting with folks, I’ve noticed more and more distinctions between 1.05 play and 1.09 play.

I’m a stingy sob when it comes to social projects. I don’t let my citizens enjoy their lives too much. “Work, peons!” is my approach. In my first few games I never used Mr. Ford. When I conquered a planet, I used to spend a fair amount of time getting rid of unwanted social projects. Now, however, I always use Mr. Ford right from turn 1 and I’ve noticed something odd - I rarely have any unwanted social projects to axe on newly conquered planets. In fact, the aliens seem to be following MY building queue! Is there something in the coding that causes this? Is it an attempt to keep the aliens competitive?

Have to admit that I haven't noticed this. I often have to axe buildings on newly conquered planets. Usually military buildings which I don't need.

I'm still playing 1.05 and regularly axe buildings like all the expensive evil flipping resistance buildings that I never build.

In the game I'm playing now (gigantic/abundant/tight) almost all of the planets that I have captured have mirrored Mr Ford's building queue. My difficulty setting in on painful and it seems the AI builds less resistant type social projects on that setting. On masochistic I was always having to destroy the buildings LDiCesare is referring to.

I mostly play painful and crippling so perhaps it is a function of the aliens' intelligence levels. And yet to have them following my queue on lower settings... perhaps my brain is mimicking those lower ai settings. After all, they were programmed by humans...

KitWarrior, try building a useless building to make sure they mirror your queue. Something like an orbital hospital. Or put a really silly list into Mr Ford's queue, and use another governor for all your planets. If the ai mimics Mr Ford, they will suffer. ;p
