Lionhead Studios and Activision have announced a new feature to their upcoming simulation game, The Movies. In the game players will take the role of a movie mogul at the beginning of the movie era, the early 1900's. Players will then have to oversee every aspect of their fledgling studio if they wish to make it to today's effects driven movies and beyond. Naturally in the game players will be creating actual movies to sell to their virtual audiences, but now Lionhead and Activision have announced that players will also be able to share those movies through an online community.
The Movies Online will allows players of the PC version to join a virtual film festival with their fellows over the title's website. The site will be viewable from the game via a built-in interface as well as standard means, plus will stage numerous competitions and award shows. Lionhead has also said that PC players will be able to download new content using virtual online credits, generated when players have their films rated highly. The Movies is due out this fall for PC with Xbox, Gamecube and PS2 versions to come shortly after.
