Electronic Arts made a slew of announcements last week over various games and its executive line-up. For starters EA announced that Need for Speed Most Wanted would launch November 15th for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC, PSP, DS, and GBA with the Xbox 360 date still undetermined.
EA also announced an internal management shift to fill the void of two top executives leaving. Don Mattrick, president of EA Worldwide Studios, will leave EA after being with the company for 23 years. Bruce McMillan, executive vice president of the studios, is also leaving the company but both have said they will stay on for a few more months to finish their current projects.
``Don would have been on a short list of internal candidates that might move into the CEO role,'' Probst said. ``Don came to the conclusion that he was not interested in running a public company, and that he did not want to be doing the same job in five years or 10 years.''
Paul Lee, executive vice president and chief operating officer of EA Worldwide Studios, will be stepping in for Mattrick, who joined the company when it bought Distinctive Software. Replacing Lee will be David Gardner, who ran international publishing operations. Gerhard Florin, who ran European publishing, will move into international publishing as head of Asia and Europe, former marketing executive Frank Gibeau will run North American publishing and former head of North American publishing, Nancy Smith, will take over as general manager of The Sims franchise.
