Microsoft Accepts Clair's Challenge

Clair Changes the World!

Microsoft has admitted that "we’ve been killing PC gaming," something that our very own Brian Clair griped about earlier this summer. Clair called for someone to take the reigns of PC gaming, to be a leader, a "first party" player like there is for Xbox, Sony and Nintendo, and Microsoft has seemed to accept his challenge. According to an article on MCV, Microsoft has decided to "put the game back into Windows" at a time when most people are eyeing the next generation consoles. The push comes as Microsoft sets to release its Xbox 360 later this year and Microsoft Vista, their new operating system, next year. The software giant will be releasing peripherals for use with both the Xbox 360 and on PC platforms including controllers, mice and keyboards.

"It’s our biggest ever investment in Windows gaming," said product manager Kelly Stanmore. "The Windows business is down 10 per cent year-on-year and we’ve lost shelves of space. We’re killing off that community without the retail support."

It's going to take far far more than words for Microsoft to fix what they've done. They've killed off some of the best development houses in the name of advancing their lackluster consoles - FASA comes to mind.. Killing off Mechwarrior 5 a month before it was to be released and forcing the devs to work on Xbox rubbish was a serious blow to PC gaming.

Not only that they've released some pretty poor games on the PC themselves.. They can START to repair the damage by releasing Halo2 for the PC like they should have. But no, they won't do that, and the only reason we have Halo is because Bungie forced it into the contract terms.

Microsoft, it will take far far more than words to fix what you've done.. You are an aweful aweful company, that I hope goes out of business in the near future.

PS: Wonder how they feel about TigerOS being ported to PCs? How about the impending GoogleOS in the works?? I think theres millions of people out there dying to dump Microcrap.
