Gadgets don't seem to like firewall

I use OD at work. Needless to say, my company uses a firewall. None of the weather gadgets/widgets can get through, nor can the GMail notifer I downloaded or Omni News gadget. Yet the Silica RSS Reader and Stock ticker work fine. Any help would be appreciated.

There could be three causes. One is the gadget/widget may require a specific port for access which the firewall has closed. The second is you may be using a proxy server which requires authentication for internet access. The third is you may be using internet security software which may be blocking the URLs required by the gadget/widget (we have G-Mail blocked for starters). In all cases you should consult your network administrator.

Don't be suprised at the answer though. I am my Company's network administrator and if any one asked me to sort the problem the answer would be 'no'...
