Suggestion: Require Starport for colony to extend ship ranges

It is unfair that the currently retarded AI can colonize planets with a garbage PQ (like PQ 2 and 3 planets!) and have those planets extend their ship ranges. I am proposing the following:

1) A colony does NOT extend the effective range of your ships if it does not have a Starport constructed on the colony
2) The construction cost for a Starport should be MUCH MUCH higher than it is currently. This would mean that a colony will have to possess a reasonable industrial capacity to build a Starport, otherwise it will take a long time to construct (as it should).

Heh I always assumed that was the case so I didnt even notice if its implemented or not.

Good suggestion ProudCanadian. However I think that would only work if the starting ship range was larger, so you could still colonize the planets in your starting vicinity.

However I dont think this would solve anything, instead just slow things down. Everyone would still put most points into social so the starbases would be built asap.

Remember that you can just create a new colony ship design on the cargo hull that has more support modules, thus increasing the range.
