Lag caused by WB

For some reason WindowsBlinds lags all of a sudden, if I press a folder button on the task bar for example, it'll make me wait for about 7 seconds before it does anything. I find it also lags when I try to open My Computer or other windows. This does not occur if I unload WindowsBlinds.

Any suggestions? Uninstalling/reinstalling does no good.
PS, my computer is in perfect condition. I have no viruses/malware, I have a clean registry and fully updated software.

Are you using a skin with a lot of animations?

Try unloading WB > set Windows to default theme via Display Properties\Themes tab > reboot > apply the Blackcomb theme to test (this skin is fast due to its basic nature and is a good reference for checking WB vs. a Skin for performance issues.

Actually, the theme I mainly use IS blackcomb. And all themes do this, regardless of complexity. I've tried what you've suggested a few times but to no avail.

WB Config/ Basic Settings/ Performance: Un-check 'Enable Hyperpaint', check 'Disable Windows Animation' and 'Optimize Resizing w/ Clear Type'. Click 'Apply changes'.

Yeah it's already set like that, thanks for the pointer though. Any more ideas?

Yeah, unload WB and open Task Manager and under Performance see what your CPU Usage % is. Load WB and look again. Let me know what each % is.

Well I've unloaded WB and it varies between 4% and 7% with the occasional 10%. I've loaded up WB and it's still at the same level, with no difference.

OK...did you just update your graphics drivers? Probably a more likely scenario is that something is running in the background, like an AV or spyware program scan. Look in the Taskmgr Processes and see if anything looks 'odd'.

I figured it out. It wasn't anything running in the background (as I mentioned before my computer is very clean and simple). But when you mentioned to update my video driver, something clicked in. I had done just that when I went to Windows Update just a few days ago, that's what triggered it. I rolled back to previous drivers and everything is working fine. Thanks a lot for your help!

Actually, scratch that. It's still lagging. This happens on fully updated video drivers and previous ones as well. I've checked a number of times for anything that may be slowing down my computer, and of course I find nothing.

Thank you for your continued help, it's highly appreciated

Two things; are you running any other Stardock programs and what (if anything) did you install with Windows update?
