Former Red Storm CEO, Doug Littlejohns, has come back to the gaming industry via Nice Tech Ltd. where he has signed on as Chairman. Although Red Storm is best known for creating the Rainbow Six franchise, Littlejohns has created quite a name for himself with his former company, enough to attract the newly formed Nice Tech even though it will be geared towards Massively Multiplayer Online Games.
Under Littlejohns, Red Storm, which was founded by Tom Clancy, became profitable after the release of only its second game, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. The original Rainbow Six was one of the first genre blending games, merging both action and strategy in a first-person and third-person shooter setting. The firm has since launched another Clancy-based franchise, Ghost Recon, which has also become a best selling series.
"I didn't envisage getting back into the industry," commented Doug, "but Nice Tech has designed and built a technology that promises to facilitate and transform the approach taken to MMOG development, greatly reducing development time, cost and, most importantly, risk at a time when playing online is beginning to really take off! The company is embarking on a very exciting phase in its young life and I believe Nice Tech's technology will deliver innovative, profitable online games in a truly global interactive marketplace. I am very much looking forward to helping establish Nice Tech as a premier MMO developer and technology provider."
