Where did you put it?

I KNOW I put it in the correct directory... well I did what the instructions said... as to if that's correct or not....... It just seems weird to have a secondary 'docklets' folder under the 'sysstats' folder, but maybe that's correct.

I just don't get it. I've read all the help files I can find. I'm a network engineer and I can't get sysstats to work. I must be doing something incredibly stupid. LOL

I'm running OD 1.20.522U Plus, Windows XP Pro (SP2). No matter what I try I can't see a way to add a SysStats icon to the dock. Am I doing that simple thing correct? I'm expecting to see the option in my 'Add Entry" from my dock... I don't.

I've read all the faq's and help I can find... I tried unzipping it into the OD directory as you said... Yes I had the complete directory structure intact.

I then tried moving the contents of the unzipped 'Docklets' directory into the existing OD 'Docklets' directory. Then I noticed there's actually TWO SYSSTATS.DLL files...
One in the Sysstats root that 548K

One in the Sysstats/Docklets/Sysstats directiry that only 148K

Is that right?

Also I read about a file, sysstatsCom.dll. I don't have that file and can't find it. Is it old? Do I need it in OD?

I'm just trying to give you all the info that I can... I want to use this program but can't figure out how. Been working on this for two days now so I about to give up. Help!

do you have SysStats installed? I was reading the descipts on some of the docklets for it, need to have it installed, then you should be able to rightclick dock and choose add SysStats. Don't use it myself, but the docklet would have to integrate with sysstats some and 'add sysstats' to options would seen logical.

Yes SysStats is installed. i.e. It's unzipped as I stated above and after the instructions didn't work, I've tried moving files... which didn't work either. So I'm looking for someone who can tell me...

1) is SysStatCOM a needed file?

2) is it really supposed to be unzipped into the OD root? That would create a secondary 'docklets' folder under SysStats?

3) Why are their TWO SysStats DLL files in the zip download?

To install SysStats you unzip the SysStats file into your ObjectDock\ directory - you MUST unzip the internal Systats directory structure also.

You end up with SysStatsCOM.dll in the ObjectDock directory and a whole bunch of folders under ObjectDock\Docklets\Systats.

It's best to do the above before you start ObjectDock.

When you restart OD you should have a 'SysStats' entry under OD's

FINALLY!!!!!! Thanks Chris!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the key, The BIG PROBLEM, The crippler... The SysStatsCOM.dll file is not named correctly!!

In the root of the unzipped SysStats folder is a file called SYSSTATS.DLL (in Ver 2.5.7, it's the 548KB dll). It needs to be renamed to SYSSTATSCOM.DLL. And it DOES belong in the root Object Dock directory. As soon as I did that, it all started working.

For those of you who (like me) may have unzipped it natively through Windows...

Confirm that the SysStats folder is correctly located. The SysStats directory doesn't install in Object Dock in the correct structure (at least for me and a few other frustrated users)... I'll call the directories OD for the Object Dock folder and SS for the SysStats folder...

OD - ../Object Dock/Docklets (plus all the folders and files for OD)
SS - ../SysStats/Docklets/Sysstats (folders and files for SS)

You need to marry the two structures as follows...

Put ../SysStats/Docklets/Sysstats folder into /Object Dock/Docklets.

That's the individual folder, not the structure above it. You should end up with ../Object Dock/Docklets/Sysstats

I hope Judge fixes the mis-named DLL. Perhaps a readme including the correct directory structure would also help.

This is a really cool program and I'll bet there's a lot of users who've given up... this was way confusing.

Hey I know what caused the problem. It's using XP (sp2) as the tool to unzip... it truncates filenames to 8.3. Maybe it's a setting I don't know, but that's what caused the sysstatsCOM.dll file to be renamed sysstats.dll.

My apologies to Judge, the file IS correct. It was my unzipping that caused the problem. But I'm certain this is the problem for many others as well.

Good luck to everyone. Windows sucks.

I realize this post is WAY late in coming, but I was reading something on another site that states sysstats is one of a handful of docklets that crashes OD...installer beware... :)

End of sternrulez2k11's quote

And the fact this thread is 7 years old might suggest the issue is now not one?
