Have You...?

It's a little "spacey"(heh, that's kind of a joke if you read the poem)...but I just had to write it.

Have you ever looked at the stars?
Lain back and gazed at the shining dots,
The pin pricks of light that travel millions of years and miles,
To bounce around in our eyes.

Have you felt how small you are?
How tiny you must be,
In a universe that is phenomenally,
Incomprehensibly large.

Have you thought about how we are connected?
Each and every person who can turn to the same stars,
And bathe in their light,
And know that others are there as well.

Have you ever loved someone?
Been in love and relished it,
Stood under the night sky,
And breathed in knowing that someone is there for you.

Have you ever wondered?
Wondered why we become so enamored with stars,
Thought about how romantic,
How magical these burning masses of gas seem to be.

Have you ever dreamed?
About flying to these places,
Seeing sights that no one has ever been witness to,
Dreamed about floating within the vastness of the universe.

While not a big fan of poetry, cudos on this one.

More times than I can count.

Very much so.

Have you thought about how we are connected?
Each and every person who can turn to the same stars,

Yes, I have.

Have you ever loved someone?
Been in love and relished it,
Stood under the night sky,
And breathed in knowing that someone is there for you.

Once.

Have you ever wondered?
Wondered why we become so enamored with stars,
Thought about how romantic,
How magical these burning masses of gas seem to be.

Nope, I've just enjoyed that feeling.

Have you ever dreamed?
About flying to these places,
Seeing sights that no one has ever been witness to,
Dreamed about floating within the vastness of the universe.

Yes! And perhaps, one day, in another life and another form I may do so yet.

great work.

Zoo, I love this poem!!!

Have you ever loved someone?Been in love and relished it,Stood under the night sky,And breathed in knowing that someone is there for you.

Yes, yes I have! But sometimes I look at the same sky that I used to look at and wonder if there is still someone that loves me and someone who will be there for me!

Thought about how romantic,How magical these burning masses of gas seem to be.

Yes, everyday that Peter and I "went out" I would look at the "burning masses of gas" thanking God that he would allow Peter and I to be together. But now I just look at them and the huge night sky and they just remind me of the emptyness that I feel inside. And I ask God why he would let me have something so wonder as a relationship with Peter and then take it away.

But anyways.........This was a WONDERFUL poem!!!!! I absolutely LOVE it!!!!

This is really pretty, I like it a lot.

I gave Vince a poem... he said he liked it, but I thought it was really crappy. : ) I might just have to smuggle this one out of here and said I wrote it...

Just kidding Shaun!

Anyways, it is a beauty.

When I first sat down to read this, I figured it'd be another one of your love poems. Since it wasn't, I was kind of surprised. You did excellent on this one Shaun, and I really enjoy it. Good work.

Shaun, this poem seemed to draw me into the innerworkings of the light that wonder and love can bring onto the bitter anguishing soul. It's descriptive and imaginative beauty really drew me in at the firt line! Very compelling-I loved it!

The times being away from my love one, she would tell me to look at the stars cause she was looking at them, wishing we were together. It would make me smile.

Reading that stanza in your beautiful poem, made me remember those lovely phone calls with her while being apart, and how it made my love for her stronger. It brought to me another smile.

Excellent job, Zoo ... and thanks for the smiles.

Awesome.....is all I can say Toro! I know it's a cheezy word to use but....awesome! Your words really flow together nicely. I really felt it! You have a lot of feeling and passion in all of these poems. Keep it up! I could really see these put to music also. Maybe you should try it sometime. You're a musician also.

This is a remarkable poem. It reminds me (now approaching 60) of my own adolescence and the questions, where am I, who am I, what am I, why am I, as I gazed into space on a beautiful day; and realised how small I was. The night sky somehow seems more mysterious, and you have conveyed that insight. I feel it needs a last verse : perhaps that may come later. I mean this, of course, with great respect.

Keith

PS forgive the pedant, but it is wondrous, even in USA English, I think, rather than wonderous.
