Warhammer RTS Coming

Namco Announces New RTS

Namco has announced its first game to come from its deal with the creators of the Warhammer tabletop game. Warhammer: Mark of Chaos will be developed by Black Hole Entertainment, makers of last year's Armies of Exigo, and will stray away from the traditional RTS gameplay.

Instead of having players worry about base and resource management, Mark of Chaos will instead throw players into the hell of battle and epic skirmishes over massive landscapes, forcing players to keep their minds on tactics. Set one year after the Great War, players will control the Empire, Chaos, Skaven and High Elves - along with other "dogs of war" including Orcs, Dwarfs, Vampires and Goblins.

"It is an honor to bring a real-time strategy game of this magnitude to our top-flight PC line-up," said Nobuhiro Kasahara, President and CEO of Namco Hometek Inc. "With Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, the emphasis is centered on warring armies and mighty champions and less so on the tedious aspects of base management that can often take away from the epic battles. This outstanding license deserves the best that the genre can bring."

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos will be ready to wage war on the PC in late 2006.
