++ LogonStudio display Problem ++

Loading very SLOW or NOT loading at all???

Right after my system starts and the Bootskin program kicks in....there is a 2-3 second delay (black screen then blue) before the LogonStudio screen loads. Also there are times when the LogonStudio screen never displays (just a black screen) and I am forced to power boot my pc. Is there a reason why this is happening?

I've tried re-installing LogonStudio app a couple of times, but I'm still experiencing the same problem with the delay (or non-display at times). Is this normal on start-up or is there something wrong? Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This delay after your bootskin unloads and the logon skin loads sounds normal as it might be loading resources at this time. If for some reason your logon doesn't display, you can hit ctrl+alt+delete twice to display the standard windows login dialog.

You could try applying a different skin and see if that yields success. You could also check out this link: Link
and read the text starting at "Alternative Versions:" in grey.

(FYI: Neither bootskin nor logonstudio are supported, so official support may be limited)

Yeah that's perfectly normal for Windows, it will do it without any of these programs installed.

I have used Logon Studio and Bootskin for awhile now and realize they are not supported. I am at a loss to understand why though? This status is usually reserved for 'under development' programs which, by now, these two would have been made '1.0' versions.

I am now using X64 Windows Pro and both are not working so I am very interested to find out the answer. There does not seem to be any better place to ask the question.

I've read somewhere in WC that a LogonStudio2 is in the works, awaiting the Vista roll-out. I don't see how you could improve over bootskin, for what it does.

Just a bit of a warning to the 'mister cee': I wouldn't try other bootskins. I had the same problem in that bootloader sometimes wouldn't load the skin. I applied a new skin lately and since then ran into a serious problem upon a reboot. Now my Log-On-Screen won't load at all, making it impossible to start up windows. Strangely enough, I did try loging out- without a problem. Right now I'm fighting to get my windows back to working condition- as of yet with no success.

I had the same problem that sometimes skins wouldn't load- and even though I'm not ABSOLUTELY sure that this problem is because of the altered login, I suggest you don't take the risk of not being able to log in.

i have both program's with no problem loading window's [about a minute including typeing password] your problem could be the way bootskin rewrote your boot choice's you should have 2 try loading without bootskin if if it loads fine you found the problem bootskin has a whole help section about it

mr Tirgersshark have you tryed system restore from safe mode?that normaly works for me

Yes, both the Safe Mode and the Restore Last Working Configuration produce the same results- just a black screen after the XP-bootscreen. I tried to wait for some time, but after 2+ hours I don't think there will be any improvements. I tried replacing the loginui.exe but that didn't change anything. Does anyone know how LogonStudio is hooked into the login-process? And how- if possible- I can get it out of there in dos-mode?

you could also try loading your your xp disk in and use the repair feature it will just repair/replace just your XP files it should repair your boot and logon screens and leave the rest of your files alone i have done that 2000 pro XP has the same feature

Yeah- I remember doing that once, but AFAIR this will leave your system in a clean state as if you just installed- meaning that I'll lose all the installed programms etc.
So that makes it a last resort type of thing.

no like said it will only fix your XP files but if you do not want to try that your only other choice is uninstall in safe mode i do have question do you have this problem with all your logon screens?because i had 1 screen that whould do me what yours is doing when i would use that 1 screen i could not logon so i deleted that screen and have not had a problem since you could try switching logon's in safe mode and and see if it is just that screen hope that helps

I can't get into safe-mode, unfortunately the repair didn't go through , so now I have to do a complete reinstall.
It was only with the Doom3-1280x1024-Login, I used several others before, none of them gave this problem. I did however experience the above discribed problem that sometimes the login itself wouldn't load (mouse-courser was already showing, but the logon-graphics never loaded).
With the Doom3-Login however not even the mouse-cursor was drawn.
