Peter Jackson on Halo

LOTR Director to Executive Produce Halo

Yahoo News/Reuters reports that Peter Jackson has indeed linked himself to the upcoming silver screen adaptation of Bungie's popular Halo franchise. The film, which was hawked to studios earlier this year, came with high demands from Microsoft and Bungie, demands that were created so the film wouldn't hurt the franchise's "street cred."

Although the man behind the Lord of The Rings trilogy will not be directing the film as previously rumored, the report names Jackson and his wife, Fran Walsh, as Executive Producers of the film, which is set for worldwide release in mid-2007. The film will be shot in Wellington, New Zealand, and will use Jackson's production and post-production facilities there.

"I'm a huge fan of the game and look forward to helping it come alive on the cinema screen," Jackson said in a statement.

Well, I dare say the Halo movie will not suck then, unlike the Doom movie which is destined to be terrible.

God I saw the trailers for it (Doom) recently, the only thing that looks good are the little First Person thing they are doing for some scenes, like the battle against the dog/boar thing. And I do believe even The Rock (TM) said something like (paraphrasing) "The movie has no plot, its just about blowing stuff up."

See, it's the first-person scenes from the game that I hate most. That's just goofy, IMO.
