WindowBlinds 5 Trouble Already =(

WindowBlinds 5 Trouble Already =(

Why Wont it Work?!

I just upgraded my WindowBlinds to 5.0. It just put my computer into Windows Classic mode. I restarted. Same thing. I checked troubleshooting, and it gave me this message:

-------------------
WindowBlinds 5 BETA Troubleshooting Report:

WindowBlinds is not installed correctly on this PC. If you did not reboot after installing WindowBlinds 5 for the first time, then please reboot and try this again.

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

If you suffer visible corruption (overbright) on the frames and have a NVIDIA board then please be aware this is a NVIDIA bug. It has been seen on GeForce 4 cards and some FX series cards.

Video Information

You have one monitor in total.

(Gateway VX700) 1 is attached to RADEON 9600 PRO Family (Microsoft Corporation)

'RADEON 9600 PRO SEC Family (Microsoft Corporation)' also exists as device '\\.\DISPLAY2', but is not attached to the desktop.

'NetMeeting driver' also exists as device '\\.\DISPLAYV1', but is not attached to the desktop and is a mirror driver.

'RDPDD Chained DD' also exists as device '\\.\DISPLAYV2', but is not attached to the desktop and is a mirror driver.

PLEASE report all this information when submitting a problem report, especially anything related to per-pixel skinning. We don't know what's in that Dell you bought last July or the notebook the office gave you. Per-pixel skinning requires your drivers to at least claim to support the functions needed for it.
----------------------------

Isn't installed correctly?! So I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it, and rebooted again. Still, same problem, same message.

By the by, I have Windows XP x64. Is this going to be a problem?

I'm havng problems getting it to work

The Troubleshooting Report says WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC.

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

Wndowblinds is not activated on this PC. Activate through SDC

When I try activating through Stardock Central I get an Error Code 5. What does this mean

You may have a firewall blocking the connection...

I tried activating it with the firewall off. It didn't make any difference

I had the same thing and followed the advice below that was taken from another thread:-

Copy activate.exe from within the sdcentral install folder in to the windowblinds

then try a skin!! then it will ask you for your e-mail and OD code.

This worked for me

KearneyiteNIBC: I fixed a glitch in your account information. Things should be working now. Try uninstalling/reinstalling WB5Beta if it doesn't work at first.

Window-border shows right but without the per-pixel alpha effect and other parts remains as Windows Classic style in my PC

Just downloaded after waiting a couple of days. d version. Updated on top of 4.6. No activation problems, no problems with applying skins, old or 4.90 bundled skins, newly downloaded 4.90 skins, or any display problems. Either I got lucky or most of the reported bugs have already been dealt with.

I found some other bugs in the new 4.90d.002; I found two problems under the Display Properties applet:
Under the theme section, The preview window is not skinned, and under the Appearence tab, the UXTheme.dll themes won't appear:

(Note that in this case, VistaXP is the UXTheme skin, not the WB5 one)
Also some scrollbars aren't skinned, such the one in Add or Remove programs applet:

I found that in some installation programs (i.e. the MSN Toolbar and Windows Desktop Search installer), the progress bar isn't skinned and it appears as a black bar.

Also I tried to see if the photoshop bug described in my last post was solved but unfortunately is still there.
I also had some problems switching back from WB5 and the classic themes, but I'll check again later for this problem and if the problem persist I'll report here

I can't get new skins to install by just clicking on them in Wincustomize.com and clicking the popup window. Even though they are listed in the WB directory, they don't apply when I click the popup, nor do they appear in the WB list of available skins.

I have to right click and download the .WBA file to disk, then open the WB config and tell it to "load a skin from disk" and then it works.

I have gotten an e-mail back with a sig.bin file included from Stardock, but that did not help. I copied off all my old skins to a "WB_old" directory and uninstalled the WB5 beta then re-installed. This time it said it activated and installed successfully. I rebooted, but the WB Config started up right after reboot and would not load when I clicked on "Apply Changes" after choosing a skin. I can copy my sig.bin file into the directory and click on Troubleshooting and it shows as "it appears to be activated", but after I click on "Apply Changes", I can see that file disappear from the directory and nothing happens and I have the following show up when I click on "Troubleshooting".

Please help!!!!

Still have black boxes in WBConfig ....
My Animations, My Toolbars, User Overrides.
Everything else seems to be working perfectly.
Is this problem being address?
I have not seen a response from anyone on this problem.

The black boxes appears to be limited to nvidia cards.

If you unload WindowBlinds and then open wbconfig, do you still get the black boxes?

After unloading WB, the only area that is still black (on the screenshot above),
is the wide band in the "Inclusion list" box.
The "Per Application" section also has a wide black area.
I've tried three different sets of video drivers ... no difference.

Hi,

I have just checked SDC and have noticed that BETA G has been released. Well i think it has anyway, the history shows an update but the file name still shows F. Has anyone installed this update and does it fix the problem with skins not applying?

Any help gratefully received.

So, has anyone found a way to get per pixel to work with a Radeon 9200 or is the card just not as capable as it says it is?
