Viraxian Vision of Viscera and Vassals

Viraxian Vision of Viscera and Vassals

Working on starting a new empire, called the Viraxian Ascension. The story revolves around a symbiont race that crash landed on a hostile earth, that was just begining space flight.

Each member would not be limited, nor harrassed, on what alignment they played. Senate membership would require a pure evil, and a pure good game metaverse submission. There will be a limited amount of initial openings for the senate (5). Those promoted I would want to have a common link to the storyline in role playing stories. Otherwise, just play.

Senate members are Symbiont/Human that have reached ascension. Regular member could still write, but be viewed like sympathic supporters for the cause. (if you know what I mean).

As I said before, I have never wrote role-playing fiction, so some of what I might jot may be stooooopid. LOL

So, I am wondering if there is any interest in something like this?

That is not the case Pontius. The AI (minor civ) moves his colony ship to a star system that has not been claimed by anyone. It colonized one of the planets in that system, and instantly got another colony ship (the same turn it colonized the planet in).

I've never seen what you are describing. Why didn't you describe it exactly this way the first time?

It's definitely a glitch. What version are you running?

Unmodded 1.05.
I thought asking if it was an AI only colonizqation event and calling it a free ship was detail enough. Sorry for the confustion. It happens when talking to a conjoined species LOL.

Keep an eye out for it. I suspect it happens a lot more often than ppl notice.

That was certainly an interesting last game. 19 systems, 24 planets. Small/Challanging.

Talk about momentum. About mid game I did run into a little financial situation, but was easilyrectified with some intelligent trading with the two minors. Had to use a tidal wave invasion on the Drengin home system, other than that it was all fist-to-cuff. I only used one build queue, and everything possible was on it. Got all the trade goods and wonders. There were techs the AI did get first, but never more than about 3 turns of tech maxing couldn't fix. In the meantime I also picked up all the techs the AI didn't, so I had at times 16 techs the AI didn't. Was able to exclude from trade any tech that helpped them militarily or diplomaticly. gave them just the stuff they could build in social queue. Didn't do much monthly sell of the techs, I would just go for what I could get on a zero month basis.

Anyway, I had also managed to build production SBs in most sectors. Some got maxed, some didn't. No big deal. Home sector had two max prod SBs. I really tried to get a bit higher in the tech tree, but once I narrowed the hostil fronts down to two, it was a walk in the park from there.

The Derngin had the center of the galaxy, and I dealt with them first. Grabbed the two resource bonuses there, and guarded them with some extra defenders I had.

The Yor, whom were the ones to worry about in this game (Yor at antelligent, all others at normal) got the 9 high poker hand. One star, one planet, and slammed against the wall with me pinning him. I beat him to the upper sectors in the rush, which left him one other place to grab, in the bottm corner. Again, a 1/1 POS sector. made him a trade buddie for a while untill I got my transports in place, then took care of him in one feld swoop. This turned out to be the tactic of the hour.

The Alterians were never more than a bug swat in the upper corner. Since I got transport early, I delt with them str8away.

This left the friendly Torians to the north, and the Achean to the south of the old Drengin systems. Torians had 3 systems in one sector, and the Achean had 4 over two sectors. Not knowing how many transports it would take, and considering my production capacity, overkill was easy.

So off my fleet goes to deal with the futher muckers that were trying some culture sull bhit, and one turn later they were history.

I managed to get a couple of more techs, and some SB upgrades in the few turns it took to get the remainder of the fleet up to Torian space. Poor bastards. I considered whoring tech for a little bit, but just couldn't stop the momentum. Made lots of nice Torian leather jackets that day.

Feb 2192 was the last turn.

The General sits in his easy chair admiring his two new medals. Wilst pondering the previous tiny galaxy he just conquered. "I need bigger scores" he thinks.

it is what it is.

Trying a large 5x maso game, and i gotta say, I am not really enjoying it very much. I am not that far into the game, and if the AI can be this far ahead of me now, I don't see how there is much hope.

I got a good start, have met 3 majors and two minors. One of the minors was kind enough to send a freighter my way, but the majors didn't waste much time declaring war. I am just now rolling ut a couple of fighters, only to be met with a number of corvettes from the 3. The bank is not good, the resources are being gobbled up, and it just an all around PITA right now.

(reply) Thats the hard part. I just basicly finished the colonisation phase. I have 9 planets over 6 sectors.

AI Techs / AI Planets
Majors: 13/6, 23/10, 17/5
Minors: 14/2, 4/1

date is 2182

About my only claim to fame in this game, is the early steal from the Yor. They are kinda locked into the corner (bottom left), with the Acheans, the two minors, and myself. During the rush phase, the Yor and I both grabbed a star in the same sector, both had high starting PQ (20+). having the foresight to send all colony ships out with 200m pop, I built a trasport instead of a colony ship. By the time it was done, I was able to load 200m on the trasport (iirc) and send it over a couple of squares to the Yor star. nabbed the system. I did this, because of what I was reading here that said sharing a system with an Incred Ai is = giving them a system.
Not this time ya mechanical asshole. But it seems I started the damn thing without a Yor approved exaust hose, and now all my sectors have some form of Yor pollution in them. This would not be be that bad, but the Drengin came from no where and started demanding systems, and of course I am now at war with them too. And somehow, the Acheans decided they just didn't like me. I don't even remember getting the message I was at war with them.

So thats where it sits. A powerfull Achean to my NW, a damaged Yor to my SW, The gagging drengin that i have no idea where they are at, and two minors that are ahead of me.

Hard to keep a head up when I am use to having a bit more of a commanding lead in my sectors by this time.

At least I managed to get out of the red BC.

I am thinking about trying to get the Acheans to accept peace, but they also have a huge influence in ALL my secotrs, even the one that are several sectors away from any of theirs.

Other updates:
Aug 2178: Got cold fusion with 1 turn remaining (creativity)

Feb 2182: Even though I was out numbered, I decided to persue an Achean invasion. The single star sector to my north (up2) had two planets. One had 1.7B in pop or something like that, the other had around 500M. Took out his defenses (constructor, sensor drone) with my Battle Axe Fortune, and fleet invaded my two transports with 300m on each. One of the trasports was damaged anyway, and there were bogeys all over the place. So I figured what the hell, they are toast anyway. To my supprize, they won. I not only captured the tech for battle hammers, but the two planets were both building battle cruisers (don'thave the tech for that yet). Next turn I pulled my now level 3 Battle Axe into orbit for repairs.

Apr 2183: Peace has come and gone a number of times with all 3 of the majors. The Yor even established a couple of trade routes with me, only to declare war a few turns laters. Whatever. I have managed to nab 1 econ resource, and 2 mil resources. AI has been throwing corvettes at them for a while, all to no avail. (built w/2 constructors, 1 for defense +5).

Drengin have declared war again, but thats ok. They have about 6 loaded transports in my sectors, all planets defended, so they are stuck. I have been keeping them running back and forth for a number of months now. Soon as they start to get close to claifornia, I put the defender back in orbit, and fly out the defender in NY. LOL

My two battle cruisers are about to get toasted though.

I still might get my but kicked, but I am not going out without a fight. Even if I lose, gonna send this score in. I just hope I can pull a rabbit out of the hat-trick. ;)

(Sigh, no new members yet. (:( )

Sorry, was on a week long road trip visit the new in-laws (for both of us). Was a nice trip, but still a bit worn out. just got back in last night at 1am.

At least I have a game that I should be able to finish up. Was not able to finish off the damn Yor before we left. Yor are the only "intelligent" race in the options (all others normal), and the only major left. But want to avoid a long drawn out war, they do have a nice fleet....all over the place. ;)

Nothing like moving up around 300 metaverse player slots with one game submission. LOL

Now to get my game updated.

:SURPRISED:
Well, I had been hoping that all the nay-sayers were exaggerating about the beyond human victory point scoring, but alas they are not. It was certainly difficult to refrain from military conquest to get this win, and scored less than my previous, smaller galaxy, easier level game.
>:( >:(

only foul lanugage comes to mind.

However, I did like the final movie clip for the win.

Awww, shucks. Thx for the mention. I had never wrote a story line before. And although the initial effort was long, finding the ingenuity to futher the story is a lot harder than the begining. lol.

Oh well, dementia is wonderfully horrible thing to have. ;)

I guess in retrospect, the gigantic crippling win was quite an achievement, considering the things in game that are not accounted for in the scoring. Namely, the only time I had to reduce my spending down from 100% was during the final strech when my pack of 9 mini freighters hit those last two sectors that didn't have any trade SBs in them. My trade routes were about a dozen sectors long. The other worthy note is that I only used one govenor, and ALL facilities were in the queue. Only a couple of planets actually came close to finishing them all, but being the builder I am, was great fun. It's all a matter of when you build them, not so much what you build. I have read a number of comments about not building this or that on any given planet, to which I say phooey. :D

For those that might be curious, here are the final empire stats:

Finished game: Jan 2208
Final Population: 1033.7
Final bank: 407 BC
Planets: 29
2 Terror stars (with the option to build 4 more)
59 Star bases (no more then 2 in any given sector, except for one sector that had 3)
2 Survey ships
3 Star fighters
1 Ranger
16 Phoenix
25 Frigates
7 Freighters (spares)
1 Excalibur
25 Dreads
14 Death Knights
8 Corvettes
4 Constructors
10 Combat transports (full)
3 Battle axes
1 AMM

Was never at war during the entire game, and never had any race demand tribute.

(sprains elbow patting self on the back) LOL
Reply #42 Top
3 starfighters? Hmmm...did you just forget to dismantle them? :D
Reply #43 Top
No, they were late game space junk finds, so I put them in orbit around non-defended systems for the attack rating boost. basicly a cheap support stats bump. Only ships I disbanded during the game were about a half dozen scouts, a couple of sensor drones, and 4 blank SBs I got in a trade.

Just got my computer back up and running. Went to install a printer port burner I have, but the install in NOT compatible with Windows XP. Caused the system to constantly restart over and over. F8 messages comming up and everthing. Had to re-install XP to fix, and re-install all of my progs. They are still there, but I guess they are not in the registry because they can not be "found". Took 2 days just to get it to say "oh yeah, you DO have a modem afterall".

Greetings!

"General?" replied one of the advisors. "How should we proceed?"

"I am not sure at this point." he replied. "Report back tomorrow for my decision."

Lost in thought of "what next", couslee sits silently. The empire has a clear foot hold in the center of the galaxy. His options are many. Should he order insane madness and overpower the other races with force? All the major races are warm towards the Viraxians. Trade ships from all over are arriving yearly. We contorl 90% of the galatic resources, but the starbases are almost completly undefended. Certainly a war would cause the loss of millions. We could try and convince them our culture is far better, but it would take many years to get all the constructors in place, let alone the time it would take to assimilate them. Technological superiority is also an option, however it would mean letting the military branches become obsolete. No, I think I will....

The General's thoughts are intrupted when his aide bursts in and states "Sir, we have encountered a problem!"

Trying to get in some game time around family life-- so I won't have too many submitted for now. Going on a business trip next week, so maybe I can get a couple of games in. Maybe we can get onto page 1 of the metaverse....

Kind of frustrated by the score of my last game. I absolutely crushed everybody else. There was exactly 1 wonder/trade good that I didn't build, and the other races never destroyed a single one of my ships. Yet my score was better in the previous game. Current game is a challenge since the Arceans are in an enviable position with almost half the galaxy, and I only have 3 planets starting above 16, none better than 19. I'll have to suck up to them for a while.
