Korean Addiction

CNN Investigates

CNN has an interesting article on gaming addiction, with the research geared on the gaming craze in South Korea. As many as 17 million Korean's are gamers, some 35 percent of the country's population and a high percentage of that 17 million have become addicted to the $1/hr Internet cafes that sprinkle the small country.

Some players have been able to recover from their addiction including Jun Mung-gyu who used to sit in front of a screen for 15 hours a day. Although he has kicked the dangerous habit, he is still part of the crowd, running an Internet cafe in southeastern Seoul. The addiction is what leads to the danger, with a recent death of a 28 year old highly publicized after his heart failed from a 50 hour marathon of gaming. Be sure to check out the whole story.
