Cheat Mode! Love it or Hate it?

:VOMIT: I never used it.. and never will... Cheating is for loosers.... if you can't play it with all the help provided in these great forums then there4 is something wrong...

There's a cheat mode?

The first thing I thought of when I saw the cheat mode (it's a beta/expansion pack feature) was that it could be really useful in testing out various combat tactics. But not to actually a play a game from start to finish. It is fun, though, just to mess around with.

Yeah, the cheat codes are really meant more for testing.  That's what they were originally coded for; we just never made them available before this.

For those who are just finding out about this feature: It should be pointed out that any games that have used a cheat cannot be submitted to the metaverse.

That should be a given, seeing as how some mods have the same effect. We have more intelligence than you give us credit for

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound condecending. I know that this forum is full of people much smarter than I.

I use the cheat mode all the time. I think the term "Cheat" is actually not quite the right word.

It's more like putting the game into a mode where you're the GM (Game master) where you can tweak things up in the game.

For instance, it would be in "cheat mode" that we couod put in an in game editor eventually (for instance) where you place stars and such.

I use it a all the time when I play because one option is to have it automatically colonize the planets equally for each race so that you skip the colonizing mode and get right down to the tactics. Some people realy hate the AI "knowing" where the yellow stars are, that option takes away that issue.

I sometimes play games in cheat mode where I reveal the entire map. Gives me the same advantage as the ai's. Also allows for instant contact which can be bad on harder levels as you then need to focus on military to stop demands for tribute.

Sometime's if I'm getting my ass wiped by the AI I'll enter cheat mode. Game's lost, but it's oh so much pleasure to destroy those smug Drengin in their Avatars using the cheat codes!

that's what i plan to use it for. i don't like the inital colonize period, plus i am always behind the ai unless i get a cluster of good planets near me. the most frustrating bit was when i got beaten both to a yellow star AND a good resource by one turn in one game.
