Magic Hat Software has announced that their upcoming MMORPG, Irth Online, will go live on November 1st. The new fantasy RPG will not be sold in stores, instead Magic Hat decided to self-publish the title using digital distribution as the backbone to the publication.
Irth Online will only be available for purchase online. "Two years ago, in the early stages of development, we made the decision to distribute exclusively online and haven't pursued any publishing deals," says Mr. Chipura. "It made more economic sense for us to self-publish."
The title will sell for $29.95 with a monthly fee of $13.95. Magic Hat has stated that there will be a "Pre-Launch Special Offer" with discounted rates announced in a few days. Gamers who demand a hard copy of the game can get one on DVD or CD-ROM, as long as they don't mind paying an extra $9.95+shipping and handling.
