Scientific Anomalays

I understand that you have changed the unablancing issue of advancement via the anomalays.

The game I just finished, I am grateful that I was nearly finished when I upgraded the game.

It appears that now it might be a bit overconservative now. My game went over 65 game years and I still had about five levels of research remaining before a Scientific Victory.

I normally go for a sci. Victory, but I could easily have conquered the entire galaxy before that in this game.

Just letting you know what I have observed.

Not sure what you mean. I don't think the anomaly advancement has changed. A research anomaly still completes the research project being undertaken no matter what length of time remains. I would love to see this changed to reducing the time remaining by 1-5 years (perhaps with a small chance of completing the current project?). This would be a nice bonus but not too overpowering.

A research anomaly now gets you 25% of the way.

Is this a change since yesterday? If so great.

I played yesterday on Beta 2 and research anomalies still completed the projects.

A New Beta 2 was posted last night :D So would that make it 2.1? LOL

Expect to see some major changes in the Anomalies over the next few builds. Things will be a bit more random with more anomalies, events, and U.P. Issues being added to the mix.

And I think the build posted over the weekend was more of a pre-releasse. So this is build still the official Beta 2.0, with the weekend build being "GalCiv beta 2 alpha"....or something like that :)

I liked the fact that it would complete the current project when investigating an anomalie. It takes too long to research a tech the way it stands now. The competition blows me away in researching new techs. The anomolies where the equilizer.

I agree. I really would prefer that scientific anomalies be reset so that projects can be completed immediately, or at least completed immediately a portion of the time. In fact, I think the "easier" levels of the game overall ought to be just that - easy, with as many advantages as possible for the brand-new player (but that particular discussion has been done before in a couple of other threads).

I have no problem coming out on top in research. If you're having problems, make consider increasing how much you spend on research. Fiddle with the sliders to make sure you're getting the most money out of your colonies, and consider increasing your spending rate on research. The anomalies made it too easy before to race up the tech tree.

Until the tech tree reaches something closer to a state of completion with all techs in place and benefits in place, working, and balanced the use of anomalies is the only reasonable way that certain techs can be researched at all.

Unless one edits the technology data file that is. :)

I don't know about that.... I've had _4D_Entrance down to six turns research time a few times, and that was before the Starbases were added....
