Autumn

A little seasonal thinking. It's not very long...enjoy!

Crisp, frosty wind,
The smell of rotting leaves.
Pumpkins and gourds,
Scary costumes and treats.

How bittersweet,
This time of year,
The heat of summer is gone,
And the freezing winter is near.

The days grow short,
And the birds fly away,
Leaves turn and fall,
And we have to stay.

Harvest comes,
And the moon shows bright,
Our breath is easily seen,
In the long chilly night.

Soon the frost will come,
And dormant the plants shall be,
All through the long winter,
‘Till spring sets them free.

The last two verses are really, really nice. Not too much, not too little. I like this poem.

Check out my poetry and let me know what you think.
