FBA Investigating Jack Thompson
But Not Over Penny Arcade Ordeal as Rumored

Penny Arcade has a huge following as many of us know, but one person, Jack Thompson, probably didn't know that when he decided to butt heads with them. The lawyer turned anti-game activist charged the webcomic with harassment after they donated $10,000 in his name to Entertainment Software Association.
After Penny Arcade made light of this to their fans, the fans decided to take action and began various e-mail, mail and phone campaigns to companies who allow Thompson to voice his opinions. One law savvy fan went so far as to report Thompson to the Florida Bar Association, saying that his acts warranted investigation and a review of his license. Gamespot contacted the FBA to see if such an investigation had been launched, as the rumors said, but found out that no NEW investigation had been launched against the activist.
The FBA did say that the two previous investigations are recent, from March 2005 and the other in September 2004 but would not comment on the basis for them. Thompson himself explained to Gamespot what they stemmed from, "They're brought by the lawyers who represented Howard Stern's station, because I got him off the air down here," he said. "This is a very old strategy that I'm used to. Penny Arcade needs to be very careful, because I've been down this road, and they have not. They've now put themselves even more in harm's way."
Gamespot also received a copy of Thompson's e-mail to the FBA, explaining his side of the situation stemming back eighteen years ago when he began his campaign against profanity in the media. At the close of his e-mail he enlightened us that he has again changed his e-mail due to various death threats and has decided to keep his new one private.
