Just a observation, Lets imagine a million man march with nothing but white people.
Lets form a congressional white caucus, How about a national association for the advancement of white people?
How about a miss white America contest?

How about scholarships for white minorities? How about white people getting the inside track for jobs only because they are white?

How about Bill O'reilly pointing out that he thinks Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Danny Glover should be ashamed of themselves and being called a racist by Glover.

Can any white person say anything to a minority and not be called a racist? Can I write this article and not be thought of as a racist?

How about a white coach being fired from his job for saying blacks are better athletes because of there blackness, and a black coach saying the same thing and not being fired?

There seems to be too damn much INEQUALITY these days, with the deck heavily stacked in favor of minorities.
How about Louis Farrakhan putting for the premise that whites tried to kill blacks by sabotaging the levees in New Orleans? now turn that around and have a white leader say the same thing, that blacks tried to kill whites by sabotage.

How about a major white leader calling Detroit or Cleveland "nigger town" like Jesse Jackson called New York City "Jew York City and Hymie town"

These are just some things I would like answers to.

Did you see the magic they pulled out on Sunday? I loved it! About made my grandfather have a heart attack (he was napping 3 floors up) when we started yelling when they won.

And the Cowboys beat themselves!!!

The only thing he could come up with as to wy he was so celebrated was that they were making such a big deal about him because of his race


And the reason why a big fuss is usually made over a black person who goes into any position that none has ever been in or is allowed to be is because..........do I need to spell that out?

The thing is too much is made of the race of a person. Why? I don't even want to go into the whys because it's tiresome and I'm getting bored already.... It's been a long, long road in this country for anyone who is not white and have achieved somethng to be where they are today. Many years ago this was an impossible reality. There are still mountains to climb because there are still people out there who don't like that.

It's time for all of us to stop dregging the hole and bringing up the "dirty water" of our past and move forward. The main parties involved, blacks and whites need to let go. That's not going to happen however because the people who are supposed to lead us will never let it go. It's a damn if you do and damn if you don't situation. There are many of us, of all races who are tired of all this shit! (sorry Elie)

We need to let them, these leaders know that enough is enough! We can do so by living our lives as examples and be what they can't seem to be. We can each make a difference in our own lives and the life of someone else who is not like us. Small steps is all it takes to enlightenment.

I agree that you do have racial issues. I think you are right in that we should not ignore the stats and that it's indicative of problem in our country. But unlike you, I would never with only Blacks. It's problem with our entire country, not just Black or White. By the way, Blacks commit the majority of thier crimes against other Blacks.

Can you say something bad against minorities without being racist. Nope. The very definition of the word has to do with generalization against a person or people based soley on race.

We're not in the 60's anymore so please, let's all move beyond the attitudes that persisted then. RW, when see a person do you them or do you see thier race? I agree. By the way, most Black people have poor opinions of Sharpton and Farrakhan. We don't identify with those guys at all. For a great deal of us, our local Reverands are our leaders.

Amen to that! And I for one can say this is true! Somehow I think they're just tolerated out of respect for what they once were. Now they just spew the same rhetoric and blacks that are more progressive in thinking has moved beyond those rhetorics!

By the same token, cityguy, you have no idea what its like to have everything wrong with this world blamed on you because your white.

Notice I didnt say "good or bad" like you did. It's not cool these days to aknowledge that white people have ever contributed anything good or worthwhile to this world of ours.

The explorers we once honored for their achievements are now denigrated as land stealers, murderers and theives. The hardy folk who settled the west are portrayed as Indian killers, never mind that they were being attacked too. No, to hear today's version, all Native Americans were just peaceful souls that never bothered anyone until the white man came to slaughter them.

Never mind that mankind has fought over land and resources since the beginning of our species, everything bad thats ever happened is the fault of whites.

The framers of the Constitution that we all benefit from to this very day, black and white alike, are smeared as slave owners, yet there exists today many nations that still allow slavery and they're all black ruled. Slavery was the white man's invention and we are the only people who ever engaged in it.

If a black person is unemployed, its whiteys fault.

If they are in trouble with the law, its because whitey's justice system is prejudiced against them.

If they have piss poor credit because they haven't paid their bills on time, its the fault of the racist banking system in this country.

If they get fired from a job for being incompetent, ignorant, or just dont bother to show up half the time, its because their boss is a racist.

If they dont get the rental they apply for, its not because their last landlord gave them a bad reference, or because they want to put 5 kids and 2 adults in a two bedroom apartment, its because the landlord wont rent to blacks.

Need I go on?

As much as you dont like being judged for the sins of your racial brethren, neither do I.


I keep wanting to respond with "you have no idea cityguy what its like being a jew, accepted by no one but other jews" but that is just too lame for words.

This is so unfair that I have no idea even where to begin; but at least you own up to it. That's more than I see from a lot of posters around here.

It's ridiculous to be unable to say anythingat all negative about a black person without being considered racist. So, we're to simply give them an utter and complete pass on everything bad they do or say, just because we don't want to be seen as racists. How come we're not accorded the same honor?
Why, for that matter, are blacks allowed their own magazines, TV networks, even their own schools and fraternal organizations?
But just try keeping a black out of a country club or college, or announce that you're going to publish a magazine geared toward the "white experience", and see where it gets you.
And people wonder why there are still problems with racial tensions in America.

We're not in the 60's anymore so please, let's all move beyond the attitudes that persisted then.


But much of those attitudes persist because they're coming now from the opposite side; it used to be that a black man who said or did anythng against a white could be lynched for being an "uppitty nigger".
Nowadays, if a white says anything against a black, he/she risks the same thing, figuratively speaking.
Which is worse, for that matter; having your life ended by a violent hanging, or having your life torn apart and devastated by allegations and lawsuits?

I make the effort to see them. I try very hard to treat everyone with equal respect until I know for sure how they treat me and others. Then I make my judgement on how I'll respond to them. Some of the people I've respected most in my personal life have been non-whites. Not many, I'll grant you. But, truth be told, that's because I've found less to respect in many blacks I've encountered in my life. One black girl I worked with, for an example, was one of the laziest, whiniest and most RACIST people I ever met. Whitey was out to get them and was the bane of all existence. So annoying.
If personal experience makes me a racist, then yes, I guess I'd have to wear that title. Not proudly, by any means, but I'd have to wear it to be honest with myself.

I've been chewing this one over for a couple of days, wondering exactly how I should reply.
FS, I wonder....which would you rather have? A black man being celebrated as a great quarterback, or a mediocre quarterback celebrated only because he's black? Look at the past; Fredrick Douglas was a talented speaker, writer and thinker...who happened to be black. Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali were talented boxers....who happened to be black.....Jackie Robinson was an exceptionally talented baseball player....who happened to be black. These men were celebrated, and rightly so, for their abilities in their chosen fields, rather than for their skin tone.
Donovan McNabb is a fair to middling QB, but the NFL was talking about him like he was the second coming of.....well, everybody has a favorite team, and therefore a favorite QB....I'd say Terry Bradshaw..... but they were playing him up simply because of the color of his skin. That's not right. On so many levels.
I mean, should failing students be passed with flying colors simply on the virtue of their race? No, of course not. That wouldn't be fair, to them or their world.

And by making a big deal out of him in spite of his lack of ability, they do a great disservice to blacks in general, who too often, I have to say, seem to feel that they deserve more than they should fairly get, simply because they're black. Problem is, like McNabb, they get it, and it does them no good. It sends them (and not just them, but society in general) the message that mediocrity is something to be tolerated, celebrated and perhaps even rewarded. And that's not a message anyone needs to hear.
