speak to button

I was just wondering whether the speak to button for the minor races was released with one of the updates or not? currently I can sort of see the place holder text (up near the top left of the mini map), but it does nothing when clicked on.....

If you are talking about the speakto button that shows up in a star system's planet list that you get when you click on a star, it works on mine. Could there be a bug in there somewhere that is somehow hardware related? You may have to do something to get reportable data for SD.

yeah.. that's the one. When I get home tonight I'll have a look see at the debug file to see whether there is anything out of the ordinary.. what's the file name for the button?.. I can check to see if I have it in the directory

umm.. I guess depending on whether or not I actually have the file, will determine whether there are any other problems.

Had a quick look at the debug file and found the following lines of interest

Debug Message: MWinEditFields::Create - Unable to find sprite sizing graphic for SpeakToBtn
Debug Message: Unable to open file Gfx\\anomally_data2.pcx
Debug Message: Unable to open Bitmap file: Gfx\AreYouSure.pcx

Hmm... The anomally one is a typo in the Soldiering anomaly file. I think that all of the new ones have typos in the image name field. The AreYouSure.pcx doesn't really exist, so that's not terribly surprising, but the speakto button should have been created. What kind of internet connection do you have, and did you have trouble downloading the latest beta?

I am on a 56k dial up with 4 hours session times. The update to the inital beta 2 was the only one where there could have really been any problem as the update spanned 2 sessions. Other than that, the updates have been smooth since the changes to the DGM.

I'm just wondering whether it was in the DGM's list for downloading? which file should the speaktobtn have been in? Size, date? I honestly can't find anything looking remotely like it's related to it.
