Hello,
I have finished the Huge universe on Average setting, and close to finish Huge on the highest settings. Generally, I would say that the game is improving rapidly.
I have encountered few bugs, and few ideas. So, lets share them
.
Bugs:
1/ If you set ship to guard (Battleship), and it is attacked by enemy, game freezes
2/ Generally, attack takes 1 movement point. However, autopilot allows to use all the movement AND attack in same turn. This ends up having -1 movement points left, allowing very easy victory by exploiting all the galaxy by survey ship
. AI is able to abuse this feature as well
3/ If the minor race is exterminated (all too often
), diplomacy screen - minor races crashes to desktop
4/ Having fully optimized planet up to classes around 40 ends up having production around 800. Not much a problem, apart from graphics. It would need bigger production sign (hammer = 1x, big hammer = 10x, very big hammer = 100x)
5/ Seems like since ca 50th turn, all the people enhancing anomalies turn into soldiers enhancing anomalies.
6/ Experience for ships behave very strangely. Since level 5, it has tendency to go down sometimes. Since level 8 it goes up very seldom, and generally you cannot reach level 9.
Ideas:
1/ There was reported issue that you can gain planets from computer too easily (for few inventions, all planets). So the price of the planet has been increased rapidly. So, now you can colonize few class 1 planets and exchange them with computer all his techs and ships (and probably even good planets as well, but havent tried).
2/ Quite a major issue, maybe I get it wrong but: lets imagine you have spending sliders at 33% all. So it means your income (lets say 1000) is split to 333 into each area (ie military, social, tech). You are building ships on two of your six planets. Does it mean, that only 111 money of military budget is really spent on military production (as only 1/3 of all planets are producing ships?). If so, I think it is not so good.
3/ Would it be possible to make individual setting of sliders for each planet? My suggestion is to have setting for each governor - it would allow fine tuning of production split-up without too much micromanagement.
4/ Point three would allow solving the problem with influence of freshly conquered planets - the spending could be split up into four portions, fourth would be "counter-insurgency".
5/ It is very easy to be invincible - if you collect enough "soldiers enhancing anomalies", you cannot loose land battle. ANother problem is, that even in case the numbers show you have lost some people fighting, on the end of the fight the loses reset to zero (I have noticed this since strength ratio 250:x)
6/ As for resources mining, i would suggest unlimited mine section and diminishing return of each added section
7/ Whenever you get small technological edge and some experience, your ships start to be virtually invincible. I was able to kill hundreds of enemy ships (battleships mostly) with few my Avatars and boosted survey ships. I think that ship which is weaker should score reasonably strong damage on only not so better ship, but should score nearly no damage (1HP?) on much better ship (fighter x avatar). Problem is that ship which is twice as strong as enemy ships can kill tens of them in one turn.
I hope this was not difficult to understand and helps somewhat.
Regards,
