I played a game on the plane over the weekend, long trip, and the game became unplayable. Each turn was taking 2-3 minutes just for the AIs to make all their moves. There were so many ships floating around I couldn't keep track of my own ships much less the ships everyone else had so I'm not surprised the turn sequence took so long.
Perhaps there should be a limit to the number of ships you can build? A number of games out there set a limit allowing users to stress their machines if they want or find the level where they can still play the game. i.e. total units in game 600, 100 per player or something. A config option during setup.
Cheers,
Dominic
P.S. I was plugged into the plane power supply so it wasn't a case of my machine stepping down the CPU to save the battery.
