After playing the game a few times, can't load it anymore, and have to redownload

I have downloaded the game three times, and am currenly redownloading again!
After playing it a few times, I will exit, and then come back to play, and all I get when
I try to play is a black start up screen, and my task manager shows that the game is
not responding. Any suggestions? (:(

Yeah. check the contents of the debug.err file in the galciv-directory. That might give some hints. Feel free to post it here.

Umm...let's see, JP was having that problem and we were able to get it fixed...going to have to check through my e-mail to see what we did...

Ok, here's what I need you to check: if you have the files DartObjects.dll, DartSock.dll and DartWeb.dll in your drengin.net folder. If you do, move them to c:\windows\system32

Once you've done that, click on Start->Program Files->Accessories->Command Prompt.

This will bring up a shell window. at the prompt, type

cd\windows\system32

and hit enter.

Now you need to enter the following lines:

regsvr32.exe DartObjects.dll
regsvr32.exe DartSock.dll
regsvr32.exe DartWeb.dll

and that should fix it. I had JP do it and he hasn't had a blackscreen problem since.

I am having the same problem as Dr. Fib.

I dont have the Dart dll files in my drengin.net folder altough they are in the windows/system folder and not the system32 folder. I ran the regsvr32 on them anyways and it still hasn't resolved the problem.

Any suggestions? I really don't want to download it again as the Drengin fileserver is EXTREMELY slow.

Upgrading your DirectX drivers may help if you are running on Windows 98 or ME; that was a problem that someone else had when they reported this bug.

People have also reported conflicts with sound drivers.

If you e-mail me your debug.err file from your galciv folder (not the drengin folder), I'll be able to get a better idea of where it is hanging. [email protected]
