B2b - Infinite move points and hang when ship in sentry gets attacked

I've been seeing 2 new problems with B2b:
1. Lot of AI ships have negative move points which result as infinitive moves. Eg. 1 ship wonders all around the space attacking my ships until it gets destroyed.
2. In lot of cases if my ship is in sentry state and its attacked, game hangs so badly that I have to hard boot it from reset switch (on Windows XP). I've sent a save game to Cari about this.

I get the same problem when my ships are on guard. I am on xp too.

until this gets fixed it is not worth playing as it happens EVERY time I play it.

For some reason the skin changes colour for no reason, and as time goes on the turns seem to get longer and longer. I know there is a lot going on but Ihav'nt got a slow machine AMD XP 1600+ OK not superfast either but should I be noyicing a slowdown.

'1. Lot of AI ships have negative move points which result as infinitive moves. Eg. 1 ship wonders all around the space attacking my ships until it gets destroyed.'

Known problem. Read the thread 'Lock-ups in beta 2B' dated 9 days ago.

'For some reason the skin changes colour for no reason,'

It's your alignment. Read the thread 'Strange color changes on main screen' also dated 9 days ago.

'and as time goes on the turns seem to get longer and longer. I know there is a lot going on but Ihav'nt got a slow machine AMD XP 1600+ OK not superfast either but should I be noyicing a slowdown.'

Depends on why it's getting longer. When you have 300+ ships floating around, with all the 'Watch' and 'Show' settings on it takes a while to move them.

There is also a minor memory leak in the current version.

The skin color changing has to do with how "good" or "evil" you are. It turns blue if you're good enough, red if you're bad enough, depending on your actions in the game. The developers have pointed out that this is "prototypical" behavior--a sort of test-of-concept that will be probably be implemented differently in the final release.

Also keep in mind that this is a Beta. Playability is really not paramount at this point while the developers work out logic issues and bugs.

The change in "skin" color has been reported and responded to. It is a make-do to test the code for terran morals. As best as I can tell the skin has 5 colors, ranging from a couple of reds for the evil side, a brown (? Why have I really not noticed what color this is?) for neutral (terran's starting morals) to a couple of blues (for the good side).

Also, I have noticed the slowdown as well as the action builds up (number of stars, ships, etc.). Some of it has to be some of the debugging code they have in. I think we have to expect this if they are going to be successful in building and fixing the code before release date, and just be patient. I am sure a lot of the slowdown will go away with the release level code.

The negative moves and attack sentried ships bugs are fixed now.

Cari,
When will we see the next update? I saw in another thread that beta 3 will be in November. Will there be any interim updates that include the negative moves fix? That bug is making each turn quite long compared with previous versions, since one more more ships have a large number of moves.

As far as I know, there won't be another update before the beta. We've been putting in a lot of new stuff, and while it's easy to put in things for the humans, making the AI take advantage of it take a bit more time.
