Hmmm... if you could give a little more information about when the problem started and what was the last theme/object/widget you applied (and problem accured) ... !!!

As a side tip: Try clearing the cache ... uninstall ... completely remove reg enteries ... reboot and then re-install ... !!!

None of the widgets were new. I have been using the same desktop for weeks. Blue Skies - core calendar - sys info -cabal drives - glassy calendar had been on there but removed.
The message is C++ " a buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must be terminated."

Do you have Net Framework 1.1 and the 1.1 hotfix installed?

Maybe I'm making this harder then it is......clean out C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX and try DX again...

.....figured that was too easy......

i don't know about net framework 1.1 - how can I tell?

Look in Add and Remove. Should be two listings; Net Framework 1.1 and Hotfix 1.1

Almost forgot........Stop re-installing DX. It's obviously not the problem. Having said that, exactly how are you installing it ?

yrac: Could be some other install might have overwritten some MFC or other dll?

Walter: What other software have you installed or updated recently? How about malware? Done a sweep lately? What version of DesktopX are you running?

Thank you for your responses. I do not have net framework 1.1 or hotfix 1.1.

I haven't installed any software recently except for the windows update which installed yesterday morning.

I sweep regularly for malware and none is detected.

I have the same errors. I have tried everything mentioned here and I don't have Net Framework 1.1 or Hotfix 1.1 installed.

My Email to support has yet to be answered, since they asked me to uninstall and reinstall.

I'm puzzled and very frustrated. It's such a nice product, it's a shame I can't use it.

I know, I know this is pretty old, but I found this solution and it fixed my problem too.
