The minor races aren't members of the United Planets so I don't see why you couldn't.

I've tested it. No trading with minors as well.

From what I'm reading here, leaving the U.P. provides no strategic plus at all. Why have it? :p

To evade UP resolutions such as restrictions in trade routes for evils and ban on terror stars.

Personally I've never left the UP.

Ok, so here's the real question... If the UP passes a ban on terror stars or restrictions on trade routes for evil races (like me), and then you leave, can you still build a TS? Trade would be out, we know now, but are you still bound by those laws? :notsure:

You are not, Lothmorg. That's the key incentive to leave the UP. Avoid the decrees you don't like.

i think the "leave UP" button should have some perks attached to it. as it is right now, its next to useless. i have no idea what the perks might be however :(

That's what I thought, too, Ray. But this thread seems to suggest otherwise:

I think you should be able to trade with Indies since they are not part of the UP. Often I find my self in all out war where I have no trade routes left or they are all being destroyed and the UP will not let me build terror stars. This would be an ideal time to leave the UP and just complete the TS since I have nothing to lose.

Mayito's observation on the starbase modules should be a bug, Qui-Gon.
