Newbie Question: Attacking

I'm finally at the point where I want to attack a planet, and I took my covettes there and cannot get them to attack. Manual doesn't seem to have the info.

You need transports, Tim. They come with the Impulse Drive tech along the Propulsion path.

Load your transports with up to 1B pop/soldiers and you are set to go.

Tim, one question. Did the system you wanted to attack have any ships defending it? There are two things you can do.

~Attack a system with combat ships (Corvettes, etc)

or

~Invade a system with Transports/Combat Transports

Attacking a system only strips it's naval defenses while invading will attempt to capture the system.

Tim if the planet doesnot have a shield on it, means that doesnot have ships to defend it, so your ships will not attack because there is no ships or defenses to attack.

I recall we were supposed to have a bomber in the Xpack. I wonder if it is still gonna come.

That would be nice. Easier than moving your defender out of orbit in a near-by star, and waiting for the AI to de-populate the target planet it with it's own transports.
