Beginning Techs

Possible bug?

Another "not sure if this is a bug" bug --

When I start a new game as the humans, I have access to several techs but not the techs EARLIER in the tech tree. This leads to strange situations, like starting the game without Hyperdrive and being unable to build the standard design Colony Ship and Scout until I actually research Hyperdrive, even though I have Ion Drive (or whatever it is the humans start with).

On the "Pick You Race" page, when you select Terran Alliance, in the Race Tech box, you start with Hyperdirve, Xeno Communications, and Xeno Engineering.. I have not found any problems building a Colony Ship and/or Scout from the very start. Have to wait to build Freighters until you research Trade, but can build everything else.

That's what mine says too, but I don't actually start with Hyperdrive and I can't actually build Colony Ships until I research it.

My biggest issue with the tech tree is that of course not everything is filled in leading to some funny replies from the GNN bot. Its great though how some of the comments are worded. I loved the one that paid OMAGE to Monty Python and the Holy Grail (with the castle and the swamp.....ahhh good movie)...

That and i'd like to make sure the developers know that the Intense farming creates no improvement over the xeno farming right now. I'm sure this is NOT intended, but just wanted to point out the flaw.

There also does not seem to be a way to mine the mining reasorces.
