EA In The Legal Hotseat

Elements of Madden NFL 06 Causes Problems

Electronic Arts' cash cow has placed them in a bit of legal trouble. The newest entry into the Madden franchise, Madden NFL '06, has caused the publisher to call upon its legal team. Pernell Harris, owner of Virtual Jam has sued EA for breach of contract and confidentiality violation.

Harris alleges that during a 2003 meeting with the industry giant he discussed some of his ideas for a game by the name of Heart of a Champion. The title has gamers take a player from high school all the way to the pros and allows gamers to interfere with every aspect of their player's life. Harris charges that certain elements included in Madden NFL '06 were stolen from him and he has begun to seek unspecified damages, restitution, and lawyer's fees.

EA brushed off the suit, "We have read the complaint and the allegations are completely without merit."
