The Chicago Tribune has word that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has not given up on the axed game-bill. The Governor has pledged to start grassroots efforts and to "keep the pressure on" the game industry.
"This crusade against violent video games is something a lot of moms and dads are going to want to participate in, and express their views on the appropriateness of merchants who would peddle pornographic and violent garbage to their kids," Blagojevich said.
"We have restrictions in place right now that keep people from being able to sell pornography and liquor and cigarettes and all sorts of things to children under 18," said Patti Blagojevich, who is on a state advisory board on the issue. "Why they feel like they should be able to sell these awful games that show them the worst sides of human nature and actually encourage this behavior in children, it's beyond me. I don't know what the judge was thinking."
Governor Rod Blagojevich certainly does plan to keep the pressure on, as he announced that he will be jumping on-board the 'Hill Bill' that was proposed last week. The failed bill was largely rejected on its proposed restrictions which were far from clear.
